It's a short update from Islay today.
Yesterday was a slow day for birds, maybe they (like me) were
huddled up and hoping that the rain would blow over. Even so, Chris Mills spotted
the Glaucus gull at Uiskentuie Shore; five Purple Sandpipers, eight Chough and
15 Twite at Ardnave; and a flock of 170 Twite at Coull. The only other report
from yesterday is Ed Burrell’s righting a Red Kite at Balaclava.
Today was a little better weather-wise and bird-wise. Chris
Mills had Snow Bunting at Finlaggan, two Cackling Geese in amongst the Barnie flock
at the top of Loch Indaal, and 74 Whoopers. Finally, David Dinsley spotted a
Black Throated Diver at Kilnaughton.
