This morning at Gruinart, James How was treated to three Water Rail skulking about on the flats. Also bright and early, I had a pair of Little Grebe feeding and eight Whooper Swans all gathered close in to the South Hide and “whopping” loudly, in the background there were the usual dozens of Lapwing, Wigeon, Teal, and Shoveler. Last night, also at Gruinart, Lauren Stewart saw three Barn Owls along the flats.
Crossbills were spotted by Gary Turnbull, he saw them
working their way along the edge of the plantation at Finlaggan on the visitor
centre side.
Neil McMahon took these lovely pictures of Twite last time he was on the island |
