Pinch and punch for the first of the month - or in Octobers case, 30mph winds and torrential rain!
Looking out today, Margaret watched 10 young pheasants running for cover. When she went out to the garden to see what had spooked them, she saw 2 white-tailed eagles flying low along the crags. She was able to watch them for some time - not your average garden birdwatching!
Up at Claddach this morning, I saw one snow bunting while Mark counted 2 at Kilchiaran. He also saw a Arctic tern off Portnahaven.
Peter had a white-tailed eagle feeding at the top of Loch Indaal. Mike reported 8 whooper swan in the barley stubble at Killinallan this afternoon, while David counted 73 golden plover at the Oa. I was out a drive towards Lossit Farm on the Rhinns later this afternoon and noticed a kestrel hunting. Serious skills to hover in todays strong winds!
