Saturday 1st August

Our tally for the month of July for the rainfall was only a mere 5.15 inches, well short of July 2010 when it was 5.5 inches... Today Mark had been over at Port Askaig, and the woodlands round Dunlossit. He saw 2 families of Spotted Flycatchers and also a Sparrowhawk. Returning back, at Dun Nosebridge, Mark saw a male Hen Harrier. This morning, just after it stopped raining, in the garden, there were 9 Song Thrushes out looking for food. This evening, we saw a male Hen Harrier over towards Keppols at Ballygrant. Over the Sound of Islay there were some Gannets out fishing, and also a single Seal swimming in the bay at Bunnahabhain!
