Sunday 8th October

A very grey, dreich sort of day. No strong winds and not too much rain, but just damp...........

Mary Redman was finding Barn Owls last night at Claddach and Shona Islay had 3 Choughs feeding on Kilnaughton beach today: there isn't a lot of beach-feeding reported with Choughs on Islay.

The other bird news comes from Gruinart. James How and myself were out there independently this morning. A couple of young White-tailed Eagles were noted, James counted 1080 Golden Plovers and I counted about 500 Barnacle Geese. He saw 25 Brent Geese, a Bullfinch, 3 Redwings (some of the first of autumn) and a flock of 14 Snipe. I had lovely views of a lone Little Egret.
