Saturday 31st October

What a great day with the weather and a beautiful sunset to finish the day off with more to come over the next few days according to the weather forecast. Gary yesterday had a "probable" sighting of a Velvet Scoter at Blackrock, out from Cash Kelly's former house. Yesterday afternoon , we had a Todd's Canada Goose down in the barley stubbles along with Barnies, Greylags and also some Whitefronts. Visitor, George Jackson had seen probably the same Goose down in a similar location today. Danny, back on Thursday had a Greylag round towards Kilchiaran with a neck collar on, this afternoon, Bob Swann responded to say that it had been caught up behind Bruichladdich as a young bird in January and been seen over on Colonsay in the summer and returned to Islay again, and I think that Bob had seen it at Gartmain earlier on before Danny saw it! Danny also had a couple of Whitefronts at Ballinaby on Thursday, but we await a response through from the Whitefront team. As it is Saturday, so of our contributors over the last week have headed home, so thanks to you all for sending in your sightings, and tomorrow, we may well have some new names for you.
