Sarturday 24th October

Quite a lot of rain last night, the best part of an inch fell, and by the look of the weather forecast for the coming week, some more is due by the end of the month, sorry to sound so negative.... Saturday, is normally "changeover" day here on Islay with one lot of visitors leaving and others arriving, today being no exception. On the ferry coming into Port Askaig this afternoon, the Rochdale birders had seen a White tailed Eagle as they headed up the Sound of Islay on Jura with 12 Turnstone seen on the Sound itself. Danny and Wanda had seen a Merlin down at Foreland as they arrived late afternoon. On Loch Skerrols, we had 9 Whooper and also 9 Mute Swans early afternoon.
