Thursday 22nd October

Rather stormy out here today, the morning ferry diverted to Port Askaig rather sailing to Port Ellen, no complaints, at least it did come! The sea was "boiling" out at Coull Point with waves crashing over the rocks, quite impressive...Back on Tuesday, Steve Percival and his Dad had seen a Kingfisher down on the shoreline below the Gaelic Centre outside Bowmore, a new tick for both of them for their "Islay" list!!! Yesterday, they had seen some more Golden Plovers round with 70 at Ballinaby and another 40 over at Gruinart. More Whoopers were moving through too with 22 seen at Gruinart . Amongst the Barnies they saw a Canada Goose hutchinsii sp, one of the smaller ones that is....Ian and Susan Pettman from the Lake District had seen 40 Chough up at Ardnave, on the Loch they had 44 Whoopers and 2 Herons. Today, Martin Collinson and his son Peter had seen a Todd's Canada amongst the Barnies round at Ballinaby. Also today, Alan Harris from Surrey, had seen a small flock of 10 Snow Buntings up at Ardnave.
