George E. Jackson yesterday morning, en route to Coultorsay had counted 160 Greylags in one group on Loch Gorm. Still there this evening but seem to have increased to nearly 200. Also this evening, at Traigh an Luig about 50 Ringed Plovers, 15 Turnstones and 6 Dunlin were present.
Up North today, Karen had been looking over RSPB UDALE BAY on way to Cromarty today. Around 1000 Canada Geese stretching into far distance. Looking up RSPB GUIDE TO BRITISH BIRDS for Canada Goose it states: "Now in Great Britain, some Yorkshire Canadas make a regular moult migration to the Beauly Firth in northern Scotland" Udale is on the Cromarty Firth is very close to the Beauly Firth. There were also around 2/300 Oystercatchers and Herring Gulls there too.
Another item of note was the announcement for some funding which will be required for the rebuild of the Fair Isle Bird Observatory which was burned down in March 2019. So if you look it up on the "net" you might well some folk that some of us know really well.... More to the point, feel free to donate some money to a really well worthwhile cause...
