Catherine had been up at Ardnave earlier on today. In one of the fields on the reserve at Gruinart Catherine had a count of 84 Linnet. At Ardnave itself, 65 Twite were present as well as 27 Chough. She has counted up to 47 Chough in other visits to Ardnave.
The "vols" had carried out a count on Loch Grunart today which tallied out at 220 Oystercatcher, 37 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover, 140 Curlew, 54 Bar tailed Godwit, 14 Eider, 113 Redshank, 61 Blackheaded Gull, and a Heron. The count for Dunlin and also Redshank were not as high as one might have expected for time of year.
