Sunday 20th January

Some sightings through from Peter who has had a couple of friends over from Sandwich Bay  over the past few days. Yesterday, up close to Kilnave they had seen 2 juvenile Golden Eagles and then soon afterwards they had a male Hen Harrier.  On Ardnave Loch, they had 8 Whooper Swans. Later on down on the wee pond at Easter Ellister, there were another 8 Whoopers present. Down off Orsay Island they saw 3 Gannets fly past, and finally they had a Red  Grouse on the track leading up to Bolsay, up above Port Charlotte. This morning, they had a small flock of 30 Linnet along at Uiskentuie. Down on Machir Bay, 25 Ringed Plover were seen. Up here at home, before enjoying a customary cuppa, a Kestrel was seen. Just after they left, we saw a young male Hen Harrier out from the big gable end window as it flew past and away out over the machir...
