Friday 1st August

Yesterday, Nigel who is over on holiday had seen a Corncrake over towards Claggain Bay. At Claggain Bay itself, Nigel had 2 Red throated Divers and a juvenile Guillemot and also 12 Ringed Plovers, but still no sightings of any Golden Eagles...Today, James had seen a Corncrake on the flats at Gruinart. The rainfall for July tallied through at 3.5", must try to catch up with Clark and see how that compares with other years. Early this morning, I saw a beautiful 3 masted yatch sail past, by the sound of things it is now moored down at Port Ellen and called Sea Cloud II. It is a beautiful evening here with clear views down to Ireland and up to Mull and over to Jura, just great....
