Monday 17th September

Nothing much to report tonight. Through the night the wind got up and there were several heavy showers of rain clattering against the bedroom window. I reckon that we had almost an inch of rain through the night, the burn was well up this morning and there were pools of water around in the usual places. Margaret just commented today that the bird tables were a lot quieter than of late, infact I have not seen any Greenfinches today at all, nor any Goldfinches either. A flock of around 30 Rock Doves flew down the gully behind the house and  while I was going down the road this morning, a Raven was sitting on top of a telegraph pole down by Loch Gorm and stayed there until I was quite close to it. You do not realise how large they are until you see them close at hand.... The combines and balers have been idle today, needless to say....
