Thursday 19th July

This afternoon, on Loch Indaal not far from Pennycraig, there was a single Whooper Swan. I had noticed earlier on when it was out on a sand bar in shallower water where it was standing up giving quite vigorous exercise with its wings and it later moved into deeper water and swam towards some Mute Swans which were closer by to the actual shore. Possibly it was one of the Swans that was injured at the time they moved North again, certainly today it appeared to be fine today, be it from a distance! Down where the stream  at Gartmain enters Loch Indaal, there were a group of 27 Redshank and 7 Oystercatcher close by, not far away were 2 Black headed Gulls and 10 Common Gulls, but none with coloured rings on Euan! Here at home, over the far crag at lunchtime were 2 Golden Eagles with a Buzzard closer to hand, on the bird table, 3 of Euan's birds, a Chaffinch, Blue Tit and a House Sparrow
