Friday 29th October

Yesterday, James had counted 62 Whoopers on the reserve at Gruinart and he has still got the Chiffchaff in his garden. Today James only saw 23 Whoopers. Adrian, one of the RAFOS group who have arrived today, had been on Jura last week . Top sightings included Siskin, loads of Fieldfare, Redwing, White tailed Sea Eagle, Merlin, Golden Eagle, Barn Owl, a Kestrel close to Craighouse. Also on Jura, he had Greylags, a large Canada Goose and a Pink footed Goose too. Today on Loch Indaal, out of Bowmore he had around 200 Pale bellied Brent and then 2 male Yellowhammers beside the stream close to where he is staying this week. Fiona McGillvray had seen an American Wigeon  on the floods at Gruinart this morning. Gary, mid afternoon had seen a Waxwing amongst some Blackbirds at Kilmeny. Earlier on while out with some clients, they too had seen the large flock of Brent geese and many Barnies. Along towards the Smiddy, a Canada Goose was spotted and then 3 flocks of Golden Plover , each of around 100 birds were seen. Up at Bunnahabhain, they had seen an Otter. A great day out for Gary and his guests. Malcolm had 14 adult Whoopers fly South down Loch Indaal, really low down , not even 30 feet above the water...
