Wednesday 22nd June
Summer is officially here (has been for two days is fact) and the days are getting shorter! Here on the reserve female hen harrier has been seen bringing prey for her young also male hunting nearby. One of the buzzard's nest is close to fledging. Blackcap singing around the woodland trail, whitethroat near the viewing platform. A pair of choughs were seen with their young at Gruinart, while waders on the Flats are getting quieter with most of them having their young already fledged. The odd redshank or lapwing still agitated by human presence. Couple corncrakes were heard on the flats this evening.
