Saturday 9th May

Aye, it is back to the old yin again, many thanks to James, Dave and Mary for writing the blog in my absence... I have been off Islay, away on the first ever Islay Bird Nerds trip abroad, no, to the mainland but further afield.. more about that another day.... Bob yesterday, down at Loch Skerrols had a Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Bullfinches, 23 male Shelduck and a Common Sandpiper. On Loch Indaal, he counted 20 Shelduck and 12 Whimbrel. The team from RAFOS have touched base with some sightings... a Common Tern fishing in Bowmore Harbour, a Knot in summer plumage between Bowmore and Bridgend along with 7 Whimbrel, 5 Dunlin and 4 Curlew, a Greenfinch was heard there too. Other members of the team reported hearing and seeing Sedge Warblers, Reed Buntings, Mipits, Ripits, Reed Buntings, many Wheatears, and also White Wagtails down towards Machir Bay.
