Tuesday 8th April

Yesterday, Mary had a Magpie close to Garra Eallabus on the way up to Ardnave. At Ardnave farm, Mary saw a Swallow, while on the bird feeders, a Redpoll was present. The solo birder from Dumfries saw a female Merlin sitting on top of a fence post down beside the wee lochans beside Loch Gorm. Here at home this afternoon one of the Ravens, defending its' patch, chased a Buzzard off. Jack Fleming at Gruinart was telling me that some of the geese have flown North today. Just heard on the evening news that there has now been a total of 18 raptors found dead in part of Ross-shire, not good news at all, here is hoping that the person who carried out this crime is caught and severely dealt with.
