Saturday 5th April
Yesterday, the Dumfriesshire birders had seen a Woodcock over on their way down the Sound of Islay. Out on the Sound were 2 Herons along with some GND. There was a constant movement of Fieldfare and Redwing flying North up the Sound, around 100 Fieldfare and 6 Redwing in total. At Ballygrant they saw a Collared Dove. Back at their cottage, they had a female Siskin on the nut feeder. Here at home on the bird table, there has been a Greenfinch, a bird we have not seen much over the past few months. Down at Blackrock this morning, there were 6 Pale bellied Brent Geese. The Fulmars have been in on the crag the last couple of days, may be there thinking of nesting rather than being a sign of "stormy weather"... we will wait and see!
