Sunday 10th May

Peter was in touch by e mail earlier on this evening...

"Here are a couple of records from yesterday (Saturday) from Pia as she was walking the dogs at Loch Skerrols:

  • Adult White tailed Eagle low overhead
  • Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming loudly.  Looking back through this spring’s records, it really does look as if this species has now become properly established on Islay. Looking back through the blog for March and April and up till now, there have been records from Ballygrant/Lily loch; Ardbeg; Laphroaig; Foreland and now Loch Skerrols – so there seem to be a few pairs now spread across suitable woodland habitat over the island."
