Wednesday 17th January

Today, James had ben out helping on the International Goose Count and his patch was the Gruinart stint, with his tally coming through at 12,352 Barnies,974 Whitefronts and 71 Greylags. Other birds seen included a 1st winter Iceland Gull and also 5 GND up at Ardnave. At Gruinart, over the reserve, James saw a Sparrowhawk while at Killinallan, he saw a Golden Eagle. Gary has ben out of sorts with a devilish cold which has proved difficult to shift, but got out for a spot of birding today ... Along Uiskentuie strand he heard Snow Bunting calling and on the merse at Bridgend, a White tailed Eagle was present. Finally Gary saw a Merlin up at Mulreesh
