Tuesday 17th November
The wind may have dropped this morning, but already this evening the wind has started to pick up again, the lull before the storm??
This morning here at home, we had a count of 22 Redwings in the garden along with 2 Stonechats, both new to the house bird list... Later on, 2 small group of Whoopers arrived off the sea, a 10 and also 4. Later on 35 were noted heading out to sea and away South. There was a flock of 80 Rock Doves on the barley stubbles along at Sunderland Farm. Bob today had seen 57 Whoopers resting up at Easter Ellister. Martin, while taking his lunch at Killarrow House on the edge of Loch Indaal in Bowmore had managed some birding. Very productive it was too with 2 GND, a Slavonian Grebe, 40 Eider, 12 Red br Merganser, 2 Shag, 3 Mallard with a Twite seen on the grass! Martin had also seen a Peregrine as came down from Bridgend to Bowmore prior to this.
