An extremely cold night, with the cold Freezing the high tide on the salt marsh, leaving a sheet of ice.
On the Gruinart Flats I noticed 74 golden plover, nothing strange in that, but today I noticed that at least a 3rd were black bellied in summer plumage. Cold it might be, but spring is on the way.
