Sunday 18th October

 Richard Belter had the Wood Sandpiper seen out from the North hide at Gruinart again today..

Bob Davison had carried out his WeBS count from Port Charlotte round to Blackrock today with his tally coming to as follows:

2 Grey Heron, 2 Gannets, 5 GND, a single raft of 40 Slavonian Grebes, 20 Shag, 2 Cormorant, 17 Herring gull, 3 Gbb Gull, 12 Curlew, 26 Oystercatcher, 2 Purple Sandpiper, 9 Turnstone, a single Eider, 9 Mallard, 6 R B Merganser and also 40 Common Scoter.

Steve Percival saw a single Todd's Canada Goose over at Gruinart this morning.

Mike Hill this morning saw a flock of Goldfinches and also 12 Redwings over at Kilchoman.

Eddie and Elaine Prince had   e mailed trough some sightings seen today...

"We spotted 2 Harbour Porpoises off Ardnave today, which prompted a closer inspection of our corpse than we had made earlier, revealing that it too was one of the same. Very little left of it now though, and the sand has almost buried that. 

Two Curlew Sandpipers were on the sands of Loch Gruinart"

Fri 15th Jan

Peter Roberts, who had some of his friends over staying from Kent earlier on during the week, sent me some more sightings of when they were out. Off Bruichladdich Pier the other day, they had seen a Black throated Diver and 6 Common Scoter, and further out on Loch Indaal itself were 5 Slavonian Grebes. Also, when they were down on the Oa, they had also seen a Merlin, as well as a Hen Harrier, while at Upper Killeyan they had a flock of over 50 Twite.

Fri 12th Oct - Sun 14th Oct

The spell of good weather continues, but for how long we all ask, as long as pay back time does not come too soon....

On Friday, at Loch Gruinart reserve, there were 16425 Barnies, 216 Whitefront, 43 Pale Bellied Brent, 10 Whooper, 242 Lapwing and 30 Snipe. JRH
There were 28 Whooper on Loch Gorm. IKB
While on Saturday, over at Lossit Loch a group of 14 Long tailed Tits were seen. There have been several other sightings of Long tailed Tits recently at various different locations through Islay but this has been the largest in number so far. SMcG
Also on Saturday, at Ardnave there was a group of 25 Turnstone observed on the foreshore. MS
Ardnave, turned up trumps again on Sunday, with a Snow Bunting, a female Greenland Wheatear, while out at sea there were a pair of Long tailed Ducks. Back on Ardnave Loch itself, 3 Slavonian grebes were present. Down offshore at Saligo Bay, several groups of Gannets were flying South . C & TJ
Meanwhile at Machir Bay, 3 dead Triggerfish were found, where their source of origin has yet to be established. JB
