Ian

Margaret has asked me to sign into the blog to let all the blog followers know that Ian passed away unexpectantly last night.

Ian has been such a big part of the Islay birdwatching community, he has brought all of us together so many times, both those that live on Islay and the many more that visit.

This is sad news to us all.

Myself and all at Burbagebirders Travel Club are shocked to learn of the sudden death of our wonderful friend Ian Brooke on Islay .
For many years the dedicated efforts on his daily blog have been a great help to myself and the birders who have visited the Islands of Islay and Jura.
Our thoughts at this difficult time go to Margaret ,the family and their many friends on the islands and around the world.
God rest you Ian .

So sad to hear of Ian’s passing. We met up with him on many of our numerous visits to Islay, and visited Ian and Margaret at their lovely house. He was a mine of information on Islay birds and on the island in general. Islay will be so much poorer without him. Our thoughts are with Margaret and his family and all those who new him.

So sorry to hear this very sad news. Ian was a great friend, both to me and to everyone at Bird Watching magazine, and he'll be very much missed.
Thoughts are with Margaret and all his family and friends at this time.

Heartfelt condolences to Margaret. Ian was the first person we spoke to on our first ever visit to Birdfair 10 years ago. He reeled us in with a dram and a warm welcome, which continued in Ian and Margaret's kitchen on the day we arrived on Islay a few months later, the proud winners of the first Islay holiday competition. Birdfair will never be the same again without a chat and a hug from Ian. But he'll be forever remembered in our hearts and closely associated with our two trips to Islay. Big hugs to Margaret from Elisabeth & Martin
