Sunday 29th February

A final correspondence through from "the Elite 5"
"On our way home after five nights on one of my favourite Hebridean islands... Islay.
On Wednesday, we made a 5 hour visit to the neighbouring island  of Jura that gave up fantastic views of 4 x White tailed Eagle along with 4 x Golden Eagle and crippling views of Sea Otter on the sands near the Ferry. Back on Islay, we called into Finlaggan...The seat of the "Lord  Of The Isles", only to have a  magnificent low level fly past by another two WTS Eagle plus a Merlin on a mission and three Common Crossbill feeding in trees around the main house.
Back in the bungalow we cracked open a bottle of 11 year old Lagavulin. Who would be a birder ??"

A quick conversation with the Rochdale birders earlier on, who told me that they had seen a Pink footed Goose amongst the flock of Barnies down at Port Charlotte this morning.
