Saturday 27th October

Yesterday, while canon netting some Barnacle Geese, Steve Percival had a retrapped Goose wearing a darvic leg ring , LBL was the code on the goose's ring which Steve had originally  rung here on Islay by Steve, 24 years ago..
This morning, Mike Peacock had done a dawn watch from the hide at Gruinart... Apart from all the geese, swans and ducks present, Mike also had seen 3 Greenshank with large flocks of Redwing and Fieldfare moving through. On the way over to Loch Gorm, he had a Peregrine sitting on top of a dyke and back  in Port Charlotte, he saw a different Brambling in his garden. This afternoon, over at Loch Skerrols, Mike had a Golden Eagle, a Sparrowhawk and also large flock  of around 50 Chaffinch.
Saturday is normally change over day with the accommodation providers here on Islay, so some of our contributors of late are now away home with hopefully some others arriving. So, yet again, thanks to those of you who sent me their sightings and here is now looking into another set of birders in today with their sightings, watch this space ...
