Wednesday 2nd November

Adrian from the RAFOS team yesterday had a Moorhen and also Water Rail on the wee pond beside Cross Houses at Carnain. He also had a walk through Bridgend Woods producing Long tailed Tit, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Treecreeper and Goldcrest. Up towards Bunnahabhain he saw 4 Red legged Partridge and then, late afternoon, a juv. Golden Eagle at the Woollen Mill. Other team members had  seen the same Golden Plover flock that Mike Bell had counted at 650, the only difference being that they counted only 647, not bad going , really impressed that the figures were so close. Over at Finlaggan, they saw a White tailed Eagle and also a Golden Eagle nearby. Back at Blackrock, a raft of 50 Scaup was present.  Today, Mike Peacock had counted 48 GND, 9 RTD and 87 Common Scoter between Port Charlotte and Gartmain. Today, Mandy and Malcolm had flushed a Jack Snipe as they drove along the rough track leading to Avinlussa above Laggan Bridge on the high road.
