Monday 3rd September

A damp kind of an evening, that smurry rain, enough to dampen the gravel outside, having said that I cut most of the grass today before the rain came on... Yesterday, Bob had been down at Frenchman's Rocks doing some sea watching. His tally was 970 Gannet, 700 Manx Shearwater, 26 Fulmar, 19 Kittiwake, 10 Great Black backed Gull and a female Merlin hunting the Rock Pipits. On the burn below Fornisaig/ Tormisdale, Bob had a Grey Wagtail. Also yesterday Jan, a visitor over here on holiday, had been at the reserve at Gruinart and had a count of 7 Herons, 30 Lapwing, 2 Mute Swan and with their 2 cygnets, 2 Buzzards were overhead, one of them had taken off from the car park
