Visitors from Hampshire were greeted by a Swallow yesterday as they arrived, and then soon, after a Chough was seen. In the evening, round Loch Gorm they had Stonechat, Whinchat, Lapwing, Pied Wagtail and Twite. They also counted a flock of over 200 Golden Plover at Ballinaby where they also had a Barnie along with some Greylags. Other visitors, this time "locals" from Argyll arrived today. On the crossing from Kennacraig a 1st winter Glaucous Gull, 47 Great Northern Diver and 6 Harbour Porpoise were seen. In the Sound of Islay, 11 GND as well as 26 Tystie most in courtship, a Kestrel and a Swallow were noted too.At Loch Skerrols, 4 Sand Martin and a Goldeneye were present with a Chiffchaff singing. From Bruichladdich, on Loch Indaal 61 GND were counted and also 12 Red throated Divers and 2 far out flocks of Common Scoter totalling 155. Finally there were 2 Common Sandpiper, 6 Swallow and 12 Manx Shearwater down at Portnahaven. Thanks for your birds folks.
