Saturday 7th April

Yesterday Bob had been down at Frenchman's Rocks where there were 200 Gannets fishing, along with a few seals there too. On passage were 3 Manx Shearwaters, also seen there were 1 Common Scoter along with Auks, 12 Black Guillemot, Razorbill and Guillemot, all flying North. On the feeders here at home, there were 7 Goldfinches, good to see them back rather than the odd bird, on the down side I came across a dead Wren out in the field, weighing in at a mere 15 grams. Down at Bruichladdich behind the Gleaner Oil Depot this morning, Carl heard a Willow Warbler. A visitor reported in this evening with a Glaucous Gull at the top of Loch Indaal, an Iceland Gull at Craigens, a Short eared Owl over the "burnt" area of the reserve at Gruinart, round Loch Gorm he had a male and a female Hen Harrier as well as a few Chough. On Loch Indaal, from Bruichladdich he had Great Northern Diver while on the shoreline, Turnstone were seen.
