No doubt on the mainland, some of the sporting estates would be getting exited today, with today being "the glorious 12th", the day that the Grouse shooting season starts. Over here on Islay we have very few Grouse, and it would be doubtful if any were actually shot here... The weather here today has not been that great, overcast, not much sign of blue skies, temperature about normal for here, not really a day for birding. On the bird table the birds are certainly making the most of the food put out. Earlier this week, a visitor had seen a Great Skua or Bonxie fly past when he was up the East side of Loch Gruinart.
