Sat 12th April

After some initial teething problems, the Owl Cam is up and running at the Islay Natural History Trust down at Port Charlotte. Last year, it could only be viewed at Port Charlotte, but this year it can be seen on the web on www.realmalt.com/owlhtml . At present she is sitting on a clutch of 6 eggs, last year she successfully reared 5 young.
Today is the first day of "walkislay" our annual walking week here on Islay, and Donald James MacPhee had 37 folk on his walk, and they were fortunate enough to see 2 seperate Golden Eagle. When going over to DJ's house in the afternoon, I was fortunate to spot a female Bullfinch.
