Mary this morning had a Wheatear down at Claddach at Portnahaven, certainly the first that I have heard of here on Islay this year. Other visitors, of the human species this time, had a male Hen Harrier out down close to Loch Gorm this morning. While waiting at Kennacraig for the ferry at lunchtime, other visitors had a total of 9 Buzzards...Back on Islay and Bob had a male Kestrel chasing a Raven off on the Rhinns yesterday, was it possibly defending its' territory? Along at Loch Gearach, Bob had heard a Water Rail. Today, Bob had a couple of Buzzards and also an Eagle on the thermals above his house. Later this afternoon, he had another Eagle and finally he saw a Short eared Owl out quartering, looking for prey.
