Monday 19th March

This afternoon, we had a pair of visiting birders who just dropped in for a blether, great... they had just seen a Wheatear out on the machir up at the top of the hill. It's good to meet with visitors who are over on holiday, the kettle is usually on, so feel free to drop in when you are over...

This morning just beside Loch Tallant there was a Golden Eagle that was forced down onto the heather by a ringtail Hen Harrier. The Harrier kept on swooping down on the Eagle for some time. Further on there were a couple of Buzzards out on thermal. Earlier on a male Hen Harrier flew across the road close to Island Farm.

Visiting birders from Bolton had been round Ardnave Point yesterday and had 2 Snow Buntings there. They also saw the leucistic Bar tailed Godwit as well as 5 Sanderling at Traigh Nostaig. There were also a further 22 Sanderling up near to Ardnave Point itself. On Loch Gruinart, just down from the parking at Ardnave, 18 Turnstone were seen. On Ardnave Loch, there were pair of Goldeneye, also some Tufted Duck and Wigeon, while there were 4 Redshank on the edge of the Loch and a few Oystercatcher there too. Round Loch Gorm they had 3 pairs of Stonechats at different places.
