Friday 31st October

Another month almost in, wonder what the tally for the rainfall will come through at, like me you will have to wait until tomorrow...Amanda and Glen Brown who headed home today sent through some more of their sightings. On Wednesday up towards Bunnahabhain they had 3 Golden Eagles with GND seen on Loch Indaal and on a run round the Rhinns, a Peregrine Falcon, a Hen Harrier, Redwings and Stonechats were their highlights. Yesterday, over in the Gruinart area, they had Chough, Ringed Plover, Redshank, Sanderling, Dunlin, 2 Garganey, Shelduck, 2 Golden Eagle with a lone juv Whooper down at Port Charlotte. Later on Loch Indaal, 2 GBB Gulls, Red breasted Merganser, Wigeon and a raft of Scaup were seen. Albert Percival's highlights from this visit was seeing the Lesser Scaup on Ardnave Loch and the Pectoral Sandpipers on the reserve at Gruinart. Thanks folks for your birds. Yesterday, James had a look around the reserve at Gruinart and his tally came through at 9725 Barnies, 566 Whitefronts, 81 Greylags, 1274 Teal, 2 Little Grebe, 93 Wigeon, 172 Mallard, 291 Lapwing, 1410 Golden Plover, 62 Pintail, 9 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall, 26 Snipe, 1 Blackwit. He also saw a White tailed Eagle and a Hen Harrier. Today at lunchtime, up behind Port Charlotte, we watched a White tailed Eagle as it soared around, great to watch!!
