Saturday 12th May
A sunny day out on the edge today with a cold touch to the air, doubt if it got much above 10 degrees, at least it stayed dry! Bob this morning had 2 Whitethroats up the back of Port Charlotte. James had 2 as well on the reserve at Gruinart and also 3 Whooper Swans out on the floods. While we were changing the cottages this morning, Margaret looked out the kitchen window, what was in the garden but a Corncrake and later on we heard another calling away in the Iris bed where I had been yesterday! RAFOS are over for the week, and in a quick foray in Bridgend Woods, after coming off the ferry, some of their group had a pr of Bullfinch, heard Chiffchaff and also Willow Warbler too.
